GOLDEN ARROW

The 9F waits for her next driver.

The 9F at Sheffield Park:
Not a true express engine perhaps, but certainly the largest and most powerful in the Bluebell's collection.
BR Standard 9F No. 92240 stands at Sheffield Park Station awaiting her next 'Golden Arrow' driver.

Drive the Golden Arrow engine at the Bluebell Railway

The "Golden Arrow' courses follow a similar format to the one day Introductory course, - what differs is the engine. We use one of the Bluebell Railway's main line engines that are in regular use hauling their passenger trains and their Golden Arrow dining train. As these engines lead a busy life, the dates they are available for our 'Golden Arrow' driving courses are unfortunately a little restricted, but it is well worth the wait.

All Under Control: The driver's side of the 9F's footplate. This where you will sit while in charge of 141 tons of steam locomotive.9F's footplate.

View of the road ahead. The Road Ahead: Driver's view from the footplate of the 9F, waiting for the signal to fall.

Another 'Golden Arrow' Engine:
West Country light pacific No. 21C123 'Blackmore Vale' awaits the signal to depart from Sheffield Park Station.
